edmond lee shepard was one of us.  bone cancer took him from us april 8th 2004.  his wife rosemary provided these photos.

bill meredith sr. was thumbing through his box of photos at the end of 2005.  he sent us these scans.  thanks, bill.

denny beauregard also found some mementos he'd like to share with everybody. a late night call from denny april 24th, 2010, berating me for not saying thank you for his valued input prompts me to say, "denny, we all hold you in high regard and appreciate everything you've done.  thank you for the photos."

dear ed,
i must have 1000 photos from our vietnam tour.
the photos are pretty much self-described by name. most crew and muster shots are of 'n' div.

ed; here they are folks in no particular order.  enjoy.

my name is tony farina and was on the battleship from commissioning to decommissioning 68-69. i just last week made a visit to the ship after 39 years. i came across some pics i thought i'd share with you. i do have video of us going through the straits of japan in that storm.  if you would be interested in a short version let me know. i took a lot of video rather than still.

i would not expect many men to remember the chaplain unless there was a real need to by the sailor.  i have some un marked photos, which i am assuming are from the bb-62, by looking thru the general photos i think the men pictured with dad were from the new jersey.  i was only able to be on board her one time.  later on, someone close to him compiled a newspaper scrap book for him of the new jersey’s vietnam days.  i didn’t know about it until after dad died…so i never got to ask him about it.  my parents adopted me from japan when they were stationed in sasebo in the mid 50’s.  from there he went to va (naval mine depot & yorktown then norfolk) after that it was the west coast & san diego, where i spent most of my life growing up (early 60’s-1979).  dad retired sept 1 1971 to civilian work.

life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy bleep....what a ride!"

my husband norman r. boissonneault was on the uss new jersey for almost his entire service during the vietnam war.  we lost norm to multiple myeloma on january 9, 2008.  i am still working on & hoping for the "blue water navy" legislation for agent orange compensation.

however, i came across this familygram sent to his parents in october 1968 and was able to scan it to pdf and hope that you can share it with other veterans of the new jersey.  i know we have one other and i will send it along when i find it.  this one is very detailed on the missions of the new jersey!

i also have a few photos try that i scanned as well as the familygram.  norm is in the helicopter photo... on the back of the helicopter photo is stamped -  " the flight deck crew of teh uss new jersey (bb-62) and the crew of the 500th helo to land on board, pose behind a cake made to celebrate the occasion.  the helo was piloted 1st lt. kenneth e. philley, who is attached to bravo troop, 7th amored division, 17th air calvary, usa."

dear ed & larry,

i have attached photos of a series of zippo's that were sold in our ship's store during our vietnam tour.  please feel free to post them if you feel it feasible.  please keep them in the order i send them because many of them have two-sided graphics.  these zippos are extremely rare and will be a nice addition to the big j website.

pictures i took on the new jersey 14-17 february 1969.  they include firing of the main

battery in support of the third marine division and the rearm from uss vesuvius ae-15.

i was in the us army (a btry, 1st battalion, 44th artillery) at dong ha and

was the guest of the navy for the four days.
